Within a week, my daughter starts a new school year and I have almost everything ready. We have had to renew part of the uniform for which I paid 170 euros, we have bought new shoes and sneakers, for which I pocketed as many euros, and I still don't know what awaits me with the books and all the other expenses, dining room, school supplies, backpack, school fees, etc., which involves equipping children to return to school.
The price of going back to school today is already a reality in some autonomous communities of Spain, it depends a lot on where you live, the school you go to and the spending capacity of the parents. The different studies carried out by consumer and parent associations calculate an average outlay between 220 and almost 2000 euros, for each child living in Madrid or Barcelona, the regions considered most expensive in Spain.
How to reduce these expenses? To face all these expenses it is not easy for a family, much less for those with 3, 4 or more children. The best thing in these cases is to go to the establishments that offer the alternative of paying in 2 or 3 months without interest, or to credit cards. There are some exits and some changes that we can make to reduce the cost of school. For example, stopping buying branded products, and opting for private label ones. Another option is to request the aid that each autonomous community offers for the study. You can get up to 300 euros in the best case. Another way out is, if possible, to recycle, buy books, and even clothes, second hand. On the other hand, we also have to consider the time factor to buy everything necessary, as well as what many families will have to pay to leave their children in extracurricular activities or with a caregiver, so that parents can work.
